So I put a handful of Christmas ornaments on the tree the weekend before last. After Sunday brunch. Just to get something up, you know?
They weren’t personal. Some red balls, then some white balls, then a few silver ones. A handful of little silver boxes that look like mini presents.
A few days later I bought a big red sparkly bow to put on the top of the tree. I thought it looked pretty.
Then last night G and I went over to our friends’ house for dinner and I saw her tree, with all the personal ornaments on it. The ones her little kids have made over the years, and the beautiful ones she picked up in Russia when she went over to adopt the kids.
Tonight I pulled out the box of REAL ornaments. The ones the kids have made over the years, and the Hallmark Collectibles, and a few interesting things I’ve collected myself. I asked the Little Ninja to help decorate and he put three or four on the tree before he lost interest. And then I lost interest, too.
Until I found The Cat in The Hat…..
“How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before it’s afternoon. December is here before it’s June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?”
